Java Based User Workstation Download (jEMS)
This page provides access to our Java based user workstation application called "jEMS" (Java Energy Management System). Please follow the following installation steps.
1) Download a Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
You will need to have Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed to run the jEMS application. If you know that you already have a Java Virtual Machine installed, skip to step 2. Otherwise, download the latest JVM via the Sun Microsystem website by clicking the link below.
Note: When you visit the JVM download site, click on "Download Now " button in the middle of the page and then follow the on screen instructions.
2) Download the jEMS Application
The jEMS application will be downloaded and run using using "Java Web Start" technology. Click the link below to start the jEMS download.
If you are asked what program you want to run this file with or, if you get a prompt to save a "jnlp" file, then your JVM was not installed/configured correctly. Try rebooting your computer. If rebooting does not work contact a UNL EMCS technical team member.
If the files start downloading and you do not have any of of the problems mentioned previously, you will will be asked to accept a security certificate from UNL-EMCS. You must accept this certificate in order to complete the download.
3) Starting and Running jEMS
After a succcessfull download, you will be asked whether you would like to integrate jEMS into your desktop. We recommend choosing "yes" since this will create a jEMS icon for you on your desktop. Once you have your desktop link created, the "Java Web Start" technology will automatically check the EMCS servers for any newer jEMS versions whenever you start the program.
Anyone may Login to the system as a guest user using the following user name and password:
User Name = guest
Password = password
Once you successfully logged into the system you will be prompted to download your object "profiles." You should click yes to download these. Once your profiles are downloaded, you may browse our system . Note that guest users have read privileges only and you will be unable to edit or command any objects.
Again, please contact a UNL EMCS technical team member if you are experiencing problems logging in or using the program.
